The US Review of Books – Donkeys Are Special

April 22, 2016 –

“What do donkeys and children have in common? They both get into a lot of silly trouble! Luckily, the donkeys in this book always learn from their mistakes. Donkeys are Special is a book of nine short stories about the miniature donkeys of Brayfields Farm, and the many adventures they get into. The stories introduce a cast of donkey characters, each with his or her distinct personality, like the energetic Marcy May, the curious Kami and Shelby, and the reliable Mr. Glo. The book presents each donkey and shows how their personalities and curious natures sometimes lead them into pretty sticky situations. Whether a donkey has her head stuck in a ladder or eats a few too many treats, each story ends with a clear lesson spelled out for the readers.” – reviewed by Yuliya Geikhman.

Donkeys Are Special Press Release

December 2014 –

Long-time breeder of registered miniature donkeys pens collection of nine true short stories that reveal just how similar donkeys are to mischievous children. T. W. Krueger has a special place in his heart for mischief makers, whether they are children or miniature donkeys. In fact, as his new collection of short stories demonstrates, when it comes to trouble, children and donkeys actually have a lot in common. The nine colorfully illustrated short stories for children that make up Donkeys Are Special and So Are You! all take place on Brayfields Farm in Odessa, Florida, and it’s uncanny how the mistakes these little donkeys make are so reminiscent of the mistakes made by human children. From Marcy May, whose energetic ways sometimes get her into unexpected situations, to Tori, a sweet little donkey who has developed bad manners at mealtimes, to Prince Charming, who has a hard time resisting temptation, Donkeys Are Special and So Are You! introduces readers to a variety of characters whose colorful personalities make them instantly memorable and very easy to identify with.
